What is the Community Foundation of West Georgia?

The Community Foundation of West Georgia is a public charity whose mission is to enhance the quality of life for the people of West Georgia.

Unlike private foundations or the giving of individuals, the Community Foundation is a public charity, providing local citizens a credible, professional, perpetual means of giving back to the community.  Put simply, the foundation is a collection of funds, both designated and unrestricted.  The funds provide resources to support charitable activities in the West Georgia area.

The Community Foundation of West Georgia was formed in 2003 with a remarkable challenge from a local citizen to raise $4 million by the spring of 2004 in order to receive a gift of $3 million.  The challenge was met within a short six-month period of time.
