The AHR Fund honors the life and philanthropic work of Alice Huffard Richards. Today, we make grants in three targeted categories to organizations that serve Heard, Haralson and/or Heard Counties in Georgia. There is one AHR Fund grant application form and application deadline which apply to all three grant categories, as posted on this site. Funded grants run from Jan. through Dec. of the grant year.
Early Child Development Grants support extraordinary early education opportunities for children from birth to age four. We consider efforts that support quality improvement in the childcare sector, provide access to early screening and intervention services, engage parents early in their child’s development and generally prepare children for a high degree of wellness and educational readiness before they enter school.
Environmental Impact Grants support conservation and stewardship of the region’s natural resources including activities like monitoring and cleaning waterways, community beautification and clean-up, community education and volunteer engagement around environmental stewardship.
AHR’s Civic & Community Leadership Grant supports efforts to educate and engage people in civic life and those that strengthen leadership within and across the nonprofit community.
The purpose of this grant is to provide funds for public school music, art, and drama programs located in Carroll, Haralson, and Heard counties, elementary through high school. This grant cycles opens in March and closes in April.
